The UCI Lourdes was a rollercoaster of emotions. Everyone on the team had never witnessed so many highs and lows within just three days of racing.
Due to heavy rain showers throughout the whole week the track turned into pure mud with greasy rocks everywhere. However, Greg and Matt felt quite conformable despite the uncomfortable conditions during the training sessions.
Unfortunately, right before the timed training session Matt went down pretty hard. After a quick visit to the hospital, the doctors brought along some sad news: Broken finger and surgery the next day.
In the meantime, Greg was able to get some more training runs in and finished Saturday’s seeding with an outstanding 13th place.
Just in time for Sundays race, Matt was able to leave the hospital with an additional two pins in his finger, ready to cheer on Greg. (He will be off the bike for four weeks with an additional two weeks of rehab, than ready for Fort William.)
Greg finished with a 22nd place on Sunday’s race, which has secured him the 16th spot in the overalls.
