Our ears were still buzzing when we left Fort William on a Monday morning en route to Leogang for the next stop of the UCI Downhill World Cup. It was a routine commute for an UCI World Cup team but this time the mood was better than ever. With a 7th place in the bag, and no idea what ́s next you can travel light.
Coming from the dust and heat in Fort William, Leogang gave us a friendly welcome with rain, followed by even more rain. Friday’s training was surprisingly blessed with sun but this should change for Saturday’s qualification. Heavy rain showers turned the track into a battlefield, creating long days for our mechanics and the jet washers. Despite those conditions and a couple minor mistakes Greg managed to finish in 12th position. A decent result to work with on Sunday.
Race day on Sunday: Heavy rains during the whole night and the weather was forecasted to be even worse. Luckily it cleared up after the first rider dropped out of the gate and the track dried up fast.
Greg had a brilliant run with only a couple minor mistakes in the bottom section and even entered the hot seat for a while. After the last rider was down, Greg was still in 6th position. What a brilliant result for the young Scotsman. His consistence is outstanding and the whole team is extremely happy about another awesome result.
