The UCI Lenzerheide was one we’d like to forget. Despite prime weather conditions, cowbells, and green mountains, the team struggled throughout the whole weekend in Heidi-Land.
Greg felt on point after a couple of weeks of training in Morzine and was good to go. Unfortunately, he suffered a nasty crash during training that ended with three stitches in his knee. As you can imagine, this was not ideal for Friday’s seeding. Despite all the ups and downs leading to the race, Greg felt good and ready to pinn it.
All went well during Friday’s qualification until the first rock garden. Greg punctured his rear tire and lost a serious amount of air. Thanks to Schwalbe´s Procore, Greg managed to get his run down even with a flat tire. Almost 29 sec off of the best time, he finished around the 150th position. Luckily, Greg was at number 6 in the overalls, which leads into a protected rider.
Unfortunately, there was no luck involved in Saturday’s finals. Another flat in the top section caused a lack of air in the rear, and ended in a crash. Thankfully, Greg was all right and finished at 74th place.
Some say “This is racing” and this time we got a closer look at the down side of racing. Crashes and mechanicals can happen and no one can prepare for this. The whole team is looking forward to MSA and this time nothing can slow us down
