: Where are you from?
MAX: I’m from a small town in the eastern part of Germany called Geringswalde.
: Do you have a nickname?
MAX: Well I do, most of my friends call me „Hardi“.
: How long have you been racing DH for?
MAX: For 4 years.
MAX: I love to ride my toys in the mudd.
: Its been a few months now since the end of last season, what have you been doing over the off season and what are your plans leading into the start of the new season?
MAX: I rode some motocross races and hit the gym as well as some road biking.
MAX: I’m super happy with the new team. I have had a real god season with European, German champion titles under my belt. At some stage CUBE Global Squad team manager Andi approached me. He asked me if I´m interested in their team. I was really nervous at first and at the same time super excited. It is a dream come true for me.
: Can you tell us about the new bike – where you’ve been testing it, what’s it like, what are its strengths and why are you excited about racing it?
MAX: The new bike is a mint. I’ve tested the bike on my hometrails as well as on some bikeparks. I´m still over the finale suspension set up but it´s good to have FOX as our suspension partner. They take care of us rolling smooth and I´m looking forward to their test in late March.
MAX: Pretty simple, keep things nice and mellow and get those results.
MAX: It´s a huge step from being on your own to a professional race team. Now I have a mechanic and a whole race pit. This is pretty much everything you can ask for.
MAX: No I didn´t. For sure I have seen those guys on TV and while races but you know… At World Championships Val Di Sole I had the chance to talk to them. They are super kind guys and I´m looking forward to learn a lot from them.
: Aside from the World Cup series, what other events will you be attending?
MAX: Looking forward to the Dirt Masters festival and the European Downhill Cup.
: Which single race or event in particular, are you most looking forward to in 2016 and why?
MAX: Hmmm… I guess Germanchamps in Ilmenau. It’s the best track in Germany and the crowd is bonkers.
MAX: There are two guys in particularly.
One is the owner of a local bike shop I was used to ride for the last four years. He offered me the best support he could.
Number two is my dad, he mad all this possible!
: What are your personal goals for 2017?
MAX: Having a good time and gain some solid results.
MAX: The German national title was a big one but I guess starting in team colours for the vey first time will blow everything out of the water for sure!!!
: How’s your Bavarian?
MAX: dis ist pfundig haha
